The Art of Double Cleansing

The Art of Double Cleansing

If you're a follower of skincare trends, you will know that double cleansing took the beauty world by storm a few years ago and the hype hasn't died down since. It has been tried and tested, recommended by dermatologists and used by skincare enthusiasts worldwide. But what is double cleansing and how do you *actually* do it?

Let us break it down for you...

The Double Cleansing Method ( let’s call it “DCM”) is an essential step to be added to your skin care routine because it thoroughly removes make up, impurities and sebum from the skin which prevents clogged pores.

If you are guilty of using just facial wipes to remove make up, then you really should keep reading!

Double cleansing is based on a two-step method:

1) Step 1

Cleansing with an oil-based cleanser, such as Baobab Repair Oil, to help remove makeup, sebum and minerals that the skin might have come in contact with throughout the day. Also, as its oil based, it cleanses and simultaneously moisturises as well.

Gently massage an oil based cleanser into your face for a minute to two and rinse with warm water or, you could dab a clean towel in warm water, gently press onto face and slowly wipe everything away.

2) Step 2

The second step is to use a water-based cleanser, such as Liquid Black Soap, to remove of sweat, dirt and other impurities from your skin. You can apply your water-based soap on damp skin, massage in circles forehead to your neckline then rinse with warm water and set to dry before applying your moisturiser.

Adding the DCM to your daily skincare routine will help you avoid clogged pores! When your skin is free of barriers, you get the most benefit from your skincare products.

Will you be introducing double cleansing to your skincare routine?
